| Home & Garden Buiding a wooden house - impartial advice please | Alex S. posted on 31/10/2009 at 09:30
e-mail Alex S. | Having not managed to find a suitable house at a reasonable price with an estate agent, we are now looking into the eco-friendly new-builds made from wood. They seem very appealing indeed, lots of tax benefits, good for the environment, nice appearance etc, but, we've only spoken to the salesmen so far. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge regarding them. Are they really as good as the salesmen make out or are there some negative points too that they haven't told us about? Thanks (",) | rugbygirl replied on 02/11/2009 at 12:06 e-mail rugbygirl | | We looked into it and there are lots of great magazines available on the topic with loads of really good tips. However we have been put off after seeing some that are not very old starting to look shabby and have been told there is alot of maintainence. We are hoping to go down the new build route now as there is so much government help at the moment ( pass foncier, taux zero) My boyfriend has just got a job with Maison d'en France if you want more info on that kind of thing instead.

I will try to find some ready built houses and have a look at them, maybe talk to the owners. Getting a job at Maison d'en France sounds like a great way to find out all the tricks of the trade. Good idea! Not possible for me though so I would be interested in any thoughts or ideas that your boyfriend has. Are you in the Montpellier are? Perhaps we could meet and have a chat over a few beers?
