Languedoc-Roussillon Water Restrictions

Information and links to up to the moment government data on water restrictions in the south of France communes of Languedoc-Roussillon.

As a result of poor rainfall, water restriction have been imposed in certain dry areas.

The government ecological department website has regularly updated data on the restrictions imposed on the communes of France.

Map colours describe the dryness conditions which are describes by four categories: 

  • Class 1 (white): Situation normal, no restrictions apply.
  • Class 2 (pale yellow): Period of vigilance with some restrictions applying
  • Class 3 (dark yellow): Serious situation limiting irrigation and use of mains water. 
  • Class 4 (orange): Situation serious, exceptional drought and dryness with water restrictions usually prohibiting irrigation and limiting use of mains water.

Gard (30)

All areas except those supplied by the Cèze, both Gardons and the Hérault rivers, restrictions from 20/06/06. Limitation on: 

  • Watering private or public lawns, pleasure gardens, sports fields, stadia and "green spaces" from 07:00-20:00 
  • Filling swimming pools, ponds or private water features from 07:00-20:00
  • Washing cars from 07:00-20:00

The areas supplied by the Cèze, both Gardons and the Hérault rivers, restrictions from 20/06/06. Prohibition on: 

  • Washing cars
  • Watering private or public lawns, sports fields and "green spaces" from 07:00-20:00 
  • Filling swimming pools, ponds or private water features, topping up is permitted
